Plusnet, Sky and EE Scoop Top Honors in Telegraph Broadband Awards

Plusnet emerged as the big winner in the 2025 Telegraph Broadband Awards, taking home trophies in three categories based on a survey of over 1,000 Telegraph readers. Sky and EE also claimed victories, while industry giants BT, virgin Media, Vodafone and TalkTalk were shut out.

Plusnet Dominates with Value and Service

The Yorkshire-based provider won Best Buy Broadband, Best Value Broadband, and Best Broadband for Customer Support. "We’re thrilled by this recognition from Telegraph readers," said Plusnet CEO Andy Baker. "It validates our relentless focus on delivering top-notch service at affordable prices."

London resident Sarah Hughes, a Plusnet customer for 5 years, agreed. "Their reliability is excellent and the support is always friendly and helpful. I consistently get the speeds I pay for at a very reasonable price."

Sky Takes Speed Crown

Sky Broadband clinched the Best Broadband for Speed award, beating out Virgin Media which technically clocked higher speeds in the survey. Analysts say Virgin’s low scores for reliability and service knocked it out of contention.

"I switched to Sky last year and immediately noticed a big boost in performance," said Manchester IT consultant James Ward. "Downloads that used to take minutes now finish in seconds. It’s made working from home so much easier."

EE Wins on Reliability

EE took home Most Reliable Broadband honors. The mobile giant has heavily promoted network dependability in recent advertising. "Whether for gaming, streaming or video calls, a stable connection is essential," said EE broadband chief Marc Allera. "This award shows customers can count on us to deliver."

Mixed Results for Others

Vodafone and TalkTalk posted respectable scores across the board but failed to stand out enough to earn any awards. BT struggled, ranking last for both speed and value.

The survey, conducted from June 6 to July 14, included responses from 242 BT customers, 191 Sky users, 158 Virgin Media subscribers, 115 EE customers, 86 Vodafone users, 64 TalkTalk customers, and 51 Plusnet users. Another 112 respondents used smaller providers, but no single one had a large enough sample size to be included.

Faster Speeds on the Horizon

As major providers continue expanding full fiber networks capable of gigabit speeds, next year’s results could look very different. "The broadband landscape is evolving rapidly," said telecoms analyst Emma Kendrew. "I expect the competition to really heat up in the coming months as more consumers gain access to ultrafast services."
