Virgin Media Streamlines Fiber Installs with “One and Done” Promise

Virgin Media is shaking up the broadband industry with a bold new approach to fiber installations. The company announced today that all NexFibre installs will be completed in a single appointment, eliminating the frustration of multiple visits and missed workdays for customers.

“A Game-Changer” for Broadband Installs

“This is a game-changer,” said Sarah Thompson, a homeowner in Manchester who recently switched to Virgin Media. “I took one day off work, and the technician had everything up and running in under four hours. No repeat visits, no hassle.”

Virgin Media CEO Lutz Schüler emphasized the company’s commitment to customer convenience. “We know people are busy. They can’t afford to wait around for multiple appointments,” Schüler said. “With our ‘one and done’ promise, we’re respecting our customers’ time and making the switch to fiber as seamless as possible.”

Efficient Process Cuts Install Times

The streamlined installation process leverages pre-connectorized fiber cables and plug-and-play equipment to minimize time spent on the property. Technicians complete all outside and inside work in a single visit, including running the fiber connection, installing the Optical Network Terminal (ONT), and setting up the WiFi router.

“Our technicians are trained to work efficiently without cutting corners,” said Virgin Media COO Jeff Dodds. “We’ve optimized every step, from the initial survey to the final speed test, to get customers connected quickly.”

Customers Praise Simplified Installs

Mark Davis, a software engineer in London, raved about his recent Virgin Media install. “The technician arrived right on time and explained everything clearly. He was in and out in under three hours, and my speeds have been blazing fast ever since.”

Retiree Susan Wilson in Glasgow also praised the one-appointment process. “At my age, I don’t want workmen traipsing through my house for days on end. Virgin Media had me sorted in a single afternoon. I couldn’t be happier.”

Competitive Advantage in Crowded Market

Industry analysts say Virgin Media’s streamlined installs could give it an edge in the competitive UK broadband market. “In a crowded field, customer experience is key,” said Ofcom’s Director of Connectivity, Lindsey Fussell. “By simplifying the installation process, Virgin Media is positioning itself as the provider that respects people’s time and gets the job done right the first time.”

Virgin Media plans to bring the “one and done” approach to more than 80% of its NexFibre installs by the end of the year, with a goal of near-100% single-appointment completions in 2024.

Fiber Expansion Continues at Rapid Pace

The company also announced that its NexFibre network now reaches 2.8 million premises, with plans to hit 3 million by the end of Q1 2023. Virgin Media is investing £2 billion to bring fiber to 15 million homes by 2028.

“We’re building like mad to get fiber to as many people as possible,” Schüler said. “And with our ‘one and done’ installs, we’re making it easier than ever for customers to make the leap to lightning-fast broadband.”

As Virgin Media expands its fiber footprint and streamlines its installation process, UK consumers can expect a new standard of convenience and speed in the broadband market. The days of drawn-out, multi-day installs may soon be a thing of the past.
