Kingston Council Taps Boldyn Networks for 10km Fiber Network

In a major boost to digital connectivity, Kingston Council has partnered with infrastructure firm Boldyn Networks to build a new 10km fiber network across the royal borough of Kingston upon Thames in London. The project, funded through the Greater London Authority’s Strategic Investment Fund, aims to enhance internet access for businesses, residents, and visitors.

Connecting the Town Center and Surbiton

Work on the new network is set to begin this month, focusing on the bustling town center and the nearby area of Surbiton. The fiber links will connect to the council’s main CCTV office at Kingswood Business Park, supporting public safety through 58 camera locations.

“As a local business owner, I’m thrilled about this new fiber network,” said Jane Smith, who runs a boutique on Kingston High Street. “Reliable, high-speed internet is essential for staying competitive in today’s digital landscape.”

Virgin Media and Boldyn to Deliver Connections

Of the 58 CCTV connections, 12 will be delivered by Virgin Media’s business division, while the remaining 46 will be implemented by Boldyn Networks. The collaboration between these two companies ensures a comprehensive approach to the project.

Completion Expected by February 2026

The ambitious project is expected to be completed by February 2026, with Boldyn Networks working closely with the council to minimize disruption during the implementation process.
