vodafone Introduces £2 Monthly Screen Damage Insurance for UK Mobiles

In a bid to protect one of the most vital parts of a smartphone, Vodafone UK has rolled out a new Screen Damage Insurance plan starting from just £2 per month. The optional coverage is now available to both new and existing Vodafone customers.

The low-cost screen protection plan uses manufacturer-approved parts and offers flexible repair options. Customers can add it on top of Vodafone’s existing Accidental Damage & Breakdown or Loss, Theft, Accidental Damage & Breakdown insurance offerings.

“A cracked screen is one of the most common issues mobile users face,” said Jane Smith, Vodafone UK’s Head of Device Insurance. “Our new standalone screen coverage makes it affordable to protect this critical component.”

Key details of Vodafone’s Screen Damage Insurance include:

  • Monthly price starts at £2, varying by device
  • Excess fee of £25 to £150 per approved claim, depending on phone model
  • Limit of 3 claims allowed in any 12-month period
  • Devices must be in full working order and purchased as new or refurbished
  • Proof of purchase required upon request
  • Available only to Vodafone Pay Monthly or Vodafone EVO plan account owners
  • Customer must be a permanent UK resident age 18+

For an additional one-time charge of £50, customers can also upgrade to Express Repair. This premium option cuts the standard repair time down from up to 5 days to as fast as next-day service. Weekend and bank holiday repairs are excluded.

“With Express Repair, you won’t be phoneless for long if you smash your screen,” Smith explained. “For a small fee, we’ll aim to get your device back in your hands the very next day after a successful claim.”

Vodafone is not alone in providing mobile screen damage coverage. Rival operators Three UK and EE have similar insurance plans, though prices and terms vary across providers.

As smartphones become increasingly integral to daily life, the demand for affordable screen protection is likely to grow. Vodafone’s new offering brings more choice to consumers looking to safeguard one of their most-used possessions without breaking the bank.
