In a major step forward for UK broadband consumers, the One Touch Switch platform has now facilitated over 1 million successful provider switches since its launch in April 2023. The platform, developed by the Office of Communications (Ofcom), simplifies the process of changing broadband providers by eliminating the need for customers to contact both their old and new suppliers.
Streamlined Process Boosts Competition
The One Touch Switch system operates on a “gaining provider led” model, allowing customers to initiate a switch by contacting only their new chosen provider. This streamlined approach has proven popular with consumers, who no longer have to navigate the often confusing and time-consuming process of coordinating between multiple companies.
“I was dreading having to switch broadband providers when I moved house,” said Sarah Thompson, a 35-year-old marketing executive from Manchester. “But with One Touch Switch, it was incredibly easy. I just contacted my new provider, and they handled everything seamlessly.”
Increased Switching Activity
