Truespeed goes live on Freedom Fibre network across North West and Midlands

Customers in the North West and West Midlands of England can now order Truespeed full-fibre broadband over Freedom Fibre's wholesale network for the first time. The Freedom Truespeed Group announced the launch on 6 August 2026, calling it completion of the first phase of integration between the two businesses, delivered three months after the merger closed in May.

The move extends Truespeed's retail packages into regions where they were not previously available. Homes and businesses in Freedom Fibre's network area in these regions can now buy Truespeed's full-fibre and Wi-Fi products directly.

What the merger brought together

The current group is the product of several earlier network mergers. Freedom Fibre and Truespeed agreed their combination in February 2026, and the deal completed in the spring. The group now describes a combined full-fibre footprint of 419,000 premises ready for service across the North West, West Midlands, South West and East of England, connecting more than 73,000 customers.

Under the structure, Freedom Fibre continues as the group's wholesale, open-access network platform, working with its existing partners. Truespeed and LilaConnect remain as the in-house customer-facing retail brands. The group also sells through a range of national and regional ISP partners.

Freedom Truespeed Group is backed by investment partners Aviva Investors, InfraBridge and Equitix.

Why the launch took until now

Although the merger completed earlier in the year, the two networks had not been physically integrated for Truespeed's retail customers to access. Network integration is a long and complex process.

Over recent months the group has worked to bring together systems, processes and teams, including migrating customers onto a single system stack. That phase has largely finished, and work has now moved on to the physical network. Today's announcement means Truespeed customers can order packages in part of Freedom Fibre's network area.

Further retail, wholesale and network integration milestones are expected to follow in phases over the coming months.

What executives said

Nathan Vautier, chief executive of Freedom Truespeed Group, said the launch was the first tangible result of the integration plan.

"Three months ago, we set out to prove that Freedom Truespeed Group could quickly bring two complementary businesses together while maintaining trading momentum, delivering efficiencies and realising commercial benefit by opening the combined network footprint with cross-brand access," he said. "Today's launch is the first tangible milestone in that plan, delivered on schedule and to the standard of disciplined execution our customers, partners and investors expect as we continue to scale."

Nelson Missier, chief strategy and commercial officer of the group, said the pace reflected what focused teams could achieve. "Bringing Truespeed's award-winning broadband and customer experience onto Freedom Fibre's network in three months shows what focused teams can achieve at pace," he said. "We are delighted to start offering Truespeed's ultrafast broadband and Wi-Fi propositions to customers across the North West and Midlands."

Pricing and packages

Prices typically start at £20 a month for speeds of 150Mbps on an 18-month term, rising to £29 a month for 900Mbps.

Freedom Fibre continues to run its wholesale network alongside providers including PXC, Zen Internet and a range of retail ISPs, in addition to the group's own retail brands, Truespeed and LilaConnect.

The group has framed the launch as proof of the strategic reasoning behind the merger: combining wholesale infrastructure with retail execution to support faster growth and a clear path to profitability, while maintaining continuity for existing customers and wholesale partners.
