Staff at CBNG face an uncertain future as administrator takes over

Seventy-five jobs at Cambridge Broadband Networks Group (CBNG) are now uncertain after the UK company fell into administration. The trigger was a decision by its main customer, Verizon, to go a different way.

Verizon decided against adopting its mmW product in 5G FWA (fixed wireless access) networks, and the business did not survive the loss.

PKF Littlejohn Advisory Limited was appointed as administrator on 7 October 2026. The appointment appears in the latest Companies House details, though it was only confirmed publicly some time after that date.

One customer, and no fallback

The collapse shows how exposed CBNG was. Stephen Goderski, a partner at PKF Littlejohn, said: "They had one major customer, and when that major customer decided to go elsewhere, that was the end of the company’s business."

That account points to a company whose fortunes rested on a single relationship. When Verizon chose not to adopt the mmW product, there was no other buyer large enough to keep the business going.

The jobs figure also needs reading carefully. The 75 roles are described as being in uncertainty, which is how the position stands after an administrator is appointed. It is not a count of confirmed redundancies.

A blank website

There are visible signs of the company's collapse. When last checked it was just a blank page, with no statement and no information for staff, customers or partners.

Companies House is currently the main public record of what has happened. It shows the administrator appointment and the 7 October 2026 date.

A second blow for UK wireless kit makers

CBNG is the latest UK developer of wireless broadband equipment to run into serious trouble this year. The run began with the administration of Cambium Networks. That company was later rescued, with Airspan Networks of Florida coming to its aid.

The circumstances of the two cases are not identical. Cambium Networks found a rescuer, while the details currently available on CBNG show only the appointment of PKF Littlejohn Advisory Limited as administrator. Taken together, though, they make 2026 a difficult year for British firms building technology for wireless broadband networks.

For CBNG, the sequence is short and stark. Verizon, its main customer, decided not to adopt the mmW product for 5G FWA. The company entered administration and PKF Littlejohn was appointed on 7 October 2026. The website has since gone blank, and 75 jobs hang in the balance.
